When I was a teenager in catholic school back in the sixties girls would tease their hair & spray it making it real big and the nuns would get upset and take some girls to the ladys room and flatten it. It was a strange world we had to wear plaid skirts blazers white blouses knee socks & saddle shoes no dangling earrings flashy nail polish or weird hairdos. I had 12 yrs of it I couldn't wait to graduate and I never went to catholic church again.

Thought Control (A simple test for JW's)

in george orwell's novel 'nineteen eighty-four' the capitulation of the principal protagonist is portrayed in his willingness to assent to the proposition that two and two make five.

once he had denied objective reality, his mental conquest was complete and he was no longer truly the master of his own mind.

nineteen eighty-four is in many ways, a very depressing read.. a charge commonly leveled at jehovah's witnesses is that the type of mind control envisioned by orwell has been and continues to be used on them.

the issue here is revisionist history, if they just said we're bible students we thought something and we realized we were wrong now we think something else that would be fine but thats not what they do they lie in print not just once or twice but constantly to this day. they act like they knew things that they didn,t know its an incredible cover-up.

If you get a book at a dc you assume what is in that book is what the org believes at that time but than decades later they print something saying they never said certain things but there they are signed & dated.

the scope of it is overwhelming.

hated guilt-tripping expressions

i always hated when some idiot got up on stage & said "we all have the same amount of hours in the day" than pull a pioneer out of his hat who is a single mother w/kids who works & has a debiliting medical issue.

all designed to make everyone feel like somehow they're playing around & wasting time.

at the dc's or assemblies i also hated when for experiences they would drag up some 90 yr old pio in a wheelchair & some "brother" who works part time but somehow supports a family of 6 and their all pio's.. my thoughts were "what idiot thought this stuff would be encouraging" .

My sucky situation

hi guys,.

sadly some of them had been in bethel for 5 - 10 years and were still cleaning toilets.. after about 2 years of it i couldn't do it anymore.

i always knew something wasn't quite right with this organization.

Just wanted to welcome you and tell you this is a great place to hear about many situations and many solutions. You of course will have to make your own decision. Our lives are similiar in that the wtbs has affected us but we are different in circumstance and personality. however difficult it all might be because you have alot at stake whatever you choose to do remember to remind yourself that you have a good heart and you're doing your best to do the right thing however it turns out.

Have become seriously angry ...all of a sudden...

another thread has set me off ...the one about anniversaries ...and i read an extract that blondie posted on there....suddenly i am soooo bl**dy furious...so indignant!!!!.

why did we allow a bunch of men to dictate to us not only what we believed, but even how we parented our kids,and then even how we spent our free time?????

how could we allow this stuff?????.

when you begin to realize what the org has done you do go thru the whole gamut of emotions and as time goes on something will trigger these feelings and for a little while it will hit again. we all feel it

What does a 10-year-old "minister" say about a religion?

ten is just too young to make any important decisions and its a shame that the wtbs scares parents into pushing their children into baptism.

they always write "we don't know at what point your mark won't be good enough to protect your children" you just might be forcing god to kill them at the big A if you don't get them in asap.
